With over 15 years' experience driving cloud transformation across the UK and EMEA, I specialise in bridging deep technical expertise with the commercial outcomes that matter to enterprise buyers.

My career spans Microsoft Azure — where I built my foundation — through to the large-scale, multi-cloud environments I operate across AWS and Azure today, alongside platform-native estates built on Pega and Kubernetes. I've held senior roles at Microsoft and with global partners including SoftwareONE, BCN, and Akkodis, and worked directly with major enterprises such as Oracle and BT. I've also contracted directly with AWS, leading FinOps and TCO engagements across Azure, AWS, and Oracle — helping organisations gain clarity on cost models, ownership boundaries, licensing optimisation, and sustainable cloud economics.

Today I lead a Platform and Engineering practice spanning production engineering, DevOps, service management, and security and compliance — delivering managed services into regulated and public-sector environments where governance, data residency, and assurance are non-negotiable.

What I deliver

I lead cross-functional teams to design, deliver, and optimise enterprise-scale cloud programmes that produce measurable business impact. My focus areas include:

  • Accelerating secure cloud adoption across multi-cloud and platform-native estates
  • Driving significant cost optimisation and consumption efficiency through FinOps and TCO discipline
  • Embedding robust governance, compliance, and operating models — anchored to standards such as ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus, and NCSC guidance
  • Hardening security posture through privileged access management, identity controls, and continuous monitoring
  • Transforming managed services portfolios into high-renewal, value-driven offerings

Equally comfortable in the boardroom or the server room, I move seamlessly between CXO-level strategy, technical design workshops, pipeline reviews, and delivery escalations. Whether you're embarking on a cloud-first journey, optimising an existing estate, or needing trusted leadership to de-risk transformation, I bring the platform fluency, commercial insight, and delivery rigour to make it happen.

What I bring to the table

Strategy, delivery and the commercial fluency to make AWS and Azure pay back their promise.

Cloud Transformation & Strategy

Designing and delivering enterprise Azure landing zones, migration plans and adoption programmes that survive contact with reality. The remit spans CAF-aligned target architecture, identity and connectivity, hub-and-spoke landing zones with governance baked in from day one, migration waves sequenced by business value rather than technical convenience, and the day-two operating model that runs everything after the cutover.

Comfortable on both sides of the table — having sold cloud at Microsoft and the partner channel, then run delivery for customers across the UK and EMEA. The strategy slide and the migration spreadsheet survive the same conversation, because finance, security and engineering all need to see themselves in the plan before it ships.

Technical Pre-Sales & Cloud Adoption

Discovery, tailored demos, RFP responses and solution design — turning customer business outcomes into Azure proposals that procurement, security and finance teams all endorse. The hand-off into delivery is the deliverable, not the slide deck.

Cross-Functional Leadership

Building, mentoring and running multi-disciplinary teams across consulting, customer and partner orgs — engineers, architects, product, finance and sales. Psychological safety as a discipline, so risk gets flagged before it becomes a story and commitments survive contact with reality.

Stakeholder & Partner Engagement

Trusted-advisor relationships with Microsoft account teams, channel partners and customer C-suites across UK and EMEA. Translating cloud roadmaps into commercial outcomes both sides can underwrite — comfortable in QBRs, executive briefings and the room before the contract gets signed.

Microsoft C-Level Partners QBRs Trusted Advisor

Incident Review & Postmortems

Blameless postmortems on the production fires that mattered — root cause, evidence chain and the operational fix that stops it happening twice. The goal is a stronger team and a tighter runbook, not a list of names. Honest tone, not defensive.

Postmortems RCA Blameless Runbooks Recovery

FinOps & Cloud Cost Optimisation

Cross-cloud FinOps on AWS and Azure — tagging, allocation, unit economics, Savings Plans & Reservations, anomaly detection and rightsizing. The guardrails that keep multi-cloud spend honest as it scales, paired with the shared-ownership culture that makes finance and engineering speak the same language.

FinOps Governance Forecasting Budget

Managed Services & Operational Excellence

Aligning Azure resources with client KPIs, SLAs and budget constraints. Refining service delivery models, runbooks and the day-two ops cadence that lifts customer satisfaction, reduces escalations and protects renewal economics — the unglamorous discipline that keeps customers in year-three contracts.

Technical depth

Depth that scales

Beyond strategy and sales — the architecture, security, governance and engineering backbone that keeps regulated, multi-cloud platforms running.

Security & Compliance Engineering

Leading privileged access management, hardened MFA and continuous monitoring across OFFICIAL-SENSITIVE environments. Major-incident command, formal breach notification and UK GDPR obligations — anchored to recognised national frameworks.

Platform & Production Engineering

Running a Platform & Engineering function across Pega Platform, AWS, Azure and Kubernetes. Environment provisioning, monitoring thresholds, mandatory tagging standards and the guardrails that keep enterprise estates reliable as they grow.

Managed Service Operations

Run-state ownership for mission-critical public-sector platforms — SLA-backed, escalation-tiered, audit-ready. Monitoring discipline, change governance and the on-call rota that keep regulated workloads green outside business hours. The unglamorous work that protects renewal economics year on year.

Incident & Problem Management

Commanding live security and service incidents end-to-end — triage, containment, stakeholder comms to senior leadership, and root-cause analysis that feeds back into hardened process.

Public Sector & Regulated Delivery

Delivery into defence-adjacent and central-government contexts where data residency, classification and procurement discipline are non-negotiable. Comfortable with the G-Cloud / DPS routes, OFFICIAL-SENSITIVE handling, and the assurance evidence pack that has to land alongside the architecture — not after it.

Release & Service Governance

Defining release governance, change control and clear ownership through RACI matrices and SLA frameworks. Authoring the managed-service reporting and stakeholder packs that give leadership real visibility.

RACI Change Mgmt SLAs Reporting

DevOps, Automation & Tooling

Building the automation that removes toil — from CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code through to bespoke internal tooling, like a production-ready offline incident-report generator that turns raw data into board-grade output in a single click. Engineering judgement paired with a habit of shipping the tool, not just the recommendation.

CI/CD IaC Internal Tooling Automation

Pega Platform Specialism

Deep, hands-on command of the Pega Platform — from solution architecture and environment strategy through to production support and incident response. A genuinely scarce skill set that bridges low-code BPM with enterprise-grade operations.

Pega BPM Case Management Low-Code

Solution Architecture & Design Authority

Owning the design authority across an estate — setting reference patterns, landing-zone standards and the architectural guardrails teams build within. Translating business outcomes into resilient, well-governed technical design.

Team Building & Talent Development

Building and mentoring multi-disciplinary teams across production, DevOps, service management and security. Clear role ownership, weekly 1:1 cadence, and the psychological-safety discipline that lets engineers raise risk before it becomes an incident — not after the post-mortem.

Commercial, Vendor & Procurement

Market pricing analysis, vendor evaluation and procurement routing with attention to data residency, FX exposure and TCO. Reading SoW terms alongside the architecture, sanity-checking RI / Savings Plan commitments, and challenging vendor narratives that don’t survive the unit-economics math.

My History & Growth

14+ years across Microsoft, the partner ecosystem and global enterprises — selling, building, delivering and now leading cloud at scale across AWS and Azure. Every chapter shaped the next.

Practice Lead · TechOps

Akkodis

Leading the TechOps Practice as Practice Lead — modernising how enterprise clients run cloud operations, automation and delivery at scale across AWS and Azure. Growth mode: scaling the team, capabilities and playbook as enterprise demand widens, with line management across a larger multi-disciplinary group. Building that team around three things in parallel: technical excellence, deliberate culture (psychological safety, shared accountability, continuous learning) and FinOps maturity on both clouds — tagging taxonomies, cost allocation, unit economics (cost-per-transaction and cost-per-customer frameworks), Savings Plans & Reserved Instances on AWS, Reservations & Commitments on Azure, anomaly detection, rightsizing and forecasting embedded into how engineers think, not bolted on after. Sitting alongside FinOps as parallel investments: incident review discipline and security automation — because resilience and cost honesty compound. Partnering with C-suite to redesign operating models that turn cloud spend into strategic advantage; outcomes measured in delivery velocity, cost efficiency, quality and talent retention. Multi-cloud, multi-operating-model exposure over 15+ years in IT has sharpened how I read both the technology and the business — and made this the chapter I’m built for right now. I mentor practice leaders, build internal tooling, and push what TechOps can be. Won’t stop.

Leadership lessons

Forged in the trenches.

My leadership philosophy was shaped by watching both exceptional and deeply flawed managers in action. Here are the lessons I carry forward — the good ones, and the ones learned the hard way.

From great managers
  • Spot potential early. The best leaders see talent and drive before people see it in themselves. They invest, challenge, and give stretch opportunities. I now make it a priority to identify and nurture hidden potential in my teams.
  • Build confidence through trust. They gave autonomy and backed me up, even when I stumbled. Psychological safety accelerates growth far more than micromanagement ever will.
From difficult managers
  • Clarity and respect are non-negotiable. Ambiguity, favouritism or public criticism destroys morale. I refuse to lead through fear or ego — my standard is radical candour, delivered with respect.
  • Own your mistakes. Leaders who couldn't admit fault or deflected blame taught me the power of accountability. I create environments where people feel safe to own outcomes.
The standard I set

I lead by combining high expectations with genuine belief in people. My goal is to be the kind of manager who accelerates careers, not one whom people endure. Every team member should leave stronger, clearer about their strengths, and more confident than when they joined.

Seeing potential + rejecting toxic patterns — that’s how I define effective leadership.

Deep dive

Psychological safety.

The foundation of every high-performing team I’ve been part of — and the silent killer of those that struggled. It’s the shared belief that you can take risks, admit mistakes, ask questions, and voice ideas without fear of embarrassment, punishment, or rejection. When it exists, people bring their full selves and best thinking. When it’s absent, they play it safe, hide problems, and innovation dies.

What great managers taught me
  • Created environments where failing forward was expected, not punished.
  • Responded to mistakes with curiosity instead of criticism.
  • Admitted their own errors openly, modelling vulnerability at the top.
  • Celebrated smart risks, even when outcomes weren’t perfect.
What difficult managers showed me
  • Public call-outs, blame-shifting and inconsistent standards destroy trust instantly.
  • When people feel judged rather than supported, they stop speaking up — even when they see major risks.
  • Ego-driven leadership makes teams performative instead of productive.
My commitment as a leader
  • Ask for feedback regularly and respond to it without defensiveness.
  • Frame mistakes as learning opportunities — “what did we learn?”, not “who messed up?”
  • Encourage dissent and reward people who challenge the status quo constructively.
  • Be transparent about my own uncertainties and decisions.
Now

Same fire.

From my first Microsoft Cloud Consultant role in 2012, through Azure cost initiatives at BCN and EMEA consumption work at Oracle, to leading the TechOps Practice at Akkodis today — every chapter has sharpened how I read the cloud and the business it funds. This one is where I’m built for right now: turning cloud spend into strategic advantage while continuously refining who I am as a leader.

Building

Practical tooling for the day-to-day work — the gaps I keep finding in AWS and Azure cost governance and FinOps enablement, turned into things teams can actually run.

  • Cost allocation automation
  • Anomaly detection
  • AWS · Cost Explorer + CUR
  • Azure · Cost Management
  • Unit-economics reporting
  • AEP / AEM integrations

Thinking

How the human layer multiplies the technical one — and where AI is rewriting both at the same time.

  • AI-enhanced FinOps
  • Psychological safety
  • Systems thinking
  • Multi-cloud unit economics

Won’t stop.
